For Immediate Release:
2003 Professional Photographers of Canada
National Print Competition

May 6, 2003
Whistler, BC

The 2003 National Print Competition of the Professional Photographers of Canada took place this week during the Annual Convention of the PPOC in Whistler, BC

Diane C. Nicholson, a professional photographer from Armstrong, BC, had an image accepted and exhibited in the National Print Salon, judged prior to the Convention by a panel of Master Photographers from across Canada.  Acceptance in the Salon earns the maker Merits toward several Degrees offered to PPOC members, including the prestigious Craftsman of Photographic Arts and Master of Photographic Arts.  It is also an indication of the maker's ability to produce above average images for their clientele.

Diane's print is entitled, Equine Therapy: The Calm Amidst the Storm.  "This image means a great deal to me," she said, "as it portrays one aspect of the amazing bond that animals and humans can have.  Equine Therapy has proven itself to be highly beneficial to people with all kinds of disabilities, not only in a physical way, but also mentally, emotionally and even spiritually.  This image was created at O'Keefe Ranch, outside of Vernon, BC, several years back, and shows a little girl with cerebral palsy being led on a willing spirit, a white pony named Stormy, then a member of the North Okanagan Therapeutic Riding Association.  Sometimes these kids have to go through very difficult therapies and these wonderful volunteers, human and equine, offer them a respite of a peaceful, joyful time."
