Photo Session

Comfortable, joy-filled, exciting, anticipatory, wonder-filled, and just plain fun!

A maternity photo-session with Diane C. Nicholson doesn't just provide snapshots of big bellies.

Instead, it is a whole experience that ties in with, and very much compliments, your pregnancy, birth and newborn adventure.

From the first phone call, to the pre-session visit in your home, the excitement builds. Diane will discuss wardrobe, lighting, props that have special significance to your family, posing, siblings, hair, and other details that are the difference between a picture and a piece of art.

In the same way that Diane is well-known for capturing the essence, in fact the very souls of horses and other animals, because she truly loves, understands and has great empathy for them, so is she known for her images of all things around the maternal experience. Not only has she been through the joys, but also the losses (4 miscarriages and her twin sons born without kidneys) and they meld together with her photo skills to allow these emotions to be transposed into photo-art.

Please book as soon as possible. It's best to photograph that belly when it's ripe but babies can be born early so Diane works with you to try and walk that fine line, thus avoiding disappointment.

Diane books no more than 2 sessions per week (except under extraordinary circumstances) for several reasons:

Pregnant women and young children tend to live by their own definition of time and Diane accommodates that. But sometimes it means that the session gets derailed and she has to come back to get that perfect image.
She takes the time necessary to allow children and babies to settle, nurse (nothing is more photogenic and more heartfelt than a nursing mother/child couple), changing of diapers and wardrobe, etc.
Once Diane gets back to her computer, the work (and many, many hours of it) really begins. Remember, these are not just snapshots, (you will receive photographs, but you'll also have pieces of one-of-a-kind wall-art) and although she works hard to get as much in-camera design as possible, often the creativity is just beginning and the end result will provide you with a lifetime of enjoyment and memories.
